Cradle of legal talents, responsible for vitality of justice. The developing history of criminal rule of law in new China, to some extent, paralleled the history of criminal law instruction in China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). Since the founding of Criminal Law discipline in 1952, in the past 70 years’ dedication, the Criminal Law Department of CUPL has participated, promoted and witnessed the developing moments of Chinese rule of law, from the beginning era of new China, when everything was needed to be rebuilt, to the fruitful and harvesting present. After the Criminal Law Department to form the School of Criminal Justice, Criminal Law of CUPL has embarked on a fast track of development.

In CUPL, through dedicated cooperation, students from every generation are on the endless journey pursuing justice. School of Criminal Justice has a profound education and foundation, where there are both Chinese academic leaders in law and flourishing young talents. With the efforts of several generations, School of Criminal Justice has already formed the theoretical research characteristics of criminal integration, as well as the discipline construction and personnel training mode, with the integration of criminal law and criminal investigation, criminal substantive law and criminal procedural law.

School of Criminal Justice is honored as “the key position for cultivating Chinese criminal legal talents”. It is committed to the construction of first-rate disciplines, with the talents cultivation system of two first-level disciplines: law and criminal investigation. The school has always adhered to the principle of talent-oriented and scientific research development, involving its own steps into the progressing history of Chinese rule of law. In the decades of running the school, teachers have contributed by actively participating in national major legislation, presenting their legal wisdom, promoting the reform of national criminal justice system, and nurturing a large quantity of excellent legal elites. They have made positive contributions to national legal construction, especially in the development of criminal law practice.

In the new era, School of Criminal Justice will adhere to the national strategy of invigorating China through science and education, will follow the laws of higher education, will forge ahead with determination to proceed the characteristic path of “criminal integration”, will carry out innovative teaching and scientific research activities to inspire first-class academic leaders and scientific research and innovation teams for original academic achievements, will strengthen international exchange of talents to comprehensively improve the quality of talent cultivation, and will strive to contribute wisdom and strength to the progress of the national legal cause.
